The ridges along this wide valley are one of the most reliable wind zones, due to the shape of the opening to the west and the rising air above the hot desert. This has led to the construction of windpower mills early on. You can see many generations of technological evolution still at work. The wind can be a little relief while hiking during the hot summer, while it is just a pleasant breeze in winter
