The Kontorenhaus is almost certainly one of the most photographed buildings in the old town. Built entirely of oak, it is, to our knowledge, the oldest house in Sigmaringen.

Built in 1464 in Alemannic half-timbered style, the house was constructed exclusively with oak wood. The late medieval building with a so-called plank parlor is one of the oldest houses in Sigmaringen. After the Thirty Years' War, the half-timbered house was in poor structural condition and was renovated several times during the Baroque period (1649, 1690, 1760). After several changes of ownership, it was converted into a commercial building with a large display window on the first floor until architect Roland Stegmaier finally acquired the building and largely restored its original condition.
