There has been a church on this site since the Middle Ages, right on the Brabantse Wal.
During the Eighty Years' War (1568 to 1648), the Catholic church fell into Protestant hands. During this period, Catholics worshiped in secret churches. In 1798 the church was returned to the Catholics. This church was built by architect P. van Genk in 1897 in neo-Gothic style, recognizable by its slender pointed tower.
