The vast green area was created in the years 1925-1927 on land belonging to the Quistorp family (see Johannes Quistorp, Martin Quistorp). On the sides of a vast lawn with single-story flower arrangements in the middle, there are avenues with rows of maple-leafed plane trees. It is currently the largest concentration of this species of trees in Poland, with 213 of them growing here.
The square was initially named Quistorp-Aue. The rectangular green area was closed from the north by a street that was named ul. after the war. Piotr Skarga (German: Roonstraße).
