The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is almost as old as St. Mary's, but was not primarily used as a place of worship for the townspeople, but for merchants and travellers. Many of them will also have been pilgrims. The Reformation found its way into Wittstock in this church. It was a former Franciscan monk who served communion in both forms for the first time in September 1549. A devastating city fire in 1716 also devastated this church. Its current appearance dates from after 1730.

At the beginning of the 18th century the tower burned down due to lightning. The church was devastated by the great city fire of 1716. A few years later the reconstructed church was inaugurated.

Since 1996, after major renovations, the church has been the center of the “Holy Spirit” community center.
