On the southwestern part of the ring wall stands the Brilon Peace Chapel (also called Borberg or Marienkapelle) on cliffs above the Gierskoppbach valley at an altitude of 600 m[1]. The chapel, built in 1923 and visible from afar, is the destination of pilgrimages. A small wooden wayside shrine of Saint Anthony the Great (popularly called Fickeltünnes) is kept in it; it originally stood at the foot of a mighty spruce and bears the year 1618. The Borberg peace meeting took place in and around the chapel in 1931.
