Our Lady of Sorrows, is a historic church in downtown Kansas City.

In 1890, German Catholics who had moved downtown requested the establishment of a new parish. As the parish of St. Peter and Paul continued to grow and the new population settled in the area, the need for a new church was great. The first masses took place in “Doherty’s Hall” in the autumn of the same year.
From there, the community purchased land and built a church on the site of today's Union Station. When the railroad wanted to build a new station on this site, it sold the property and moved the church brick by brick up the hill to its current location. They used the bricks to build a school and a chapel until a new church could be built in 1922.
