These particular stratified rock formations, the result of thousand-year-old karst phenomena typical of the plateau ('block karst'), emerge from the gently rounded meadows - very green in summer, very white in winter - like real rocks on the sea! A very suggestive and silent, uncontaminated environment, a stone's throw from the center of Asiago.

The toponym 'Ave', which gives its name to the ancient district nearby, derives from the Cimbrian 'Auwe' = meadow or prairie.
