Hiking

The Nepomuk Fountain stands in Walchsee's central village square. The statue of John of Nepomuk, who was drowned in Prague in 1393 for refusing to break the seal of confession, is carved from wood—missing during our visit due to restoration. Supposedly, the priest refused to reveal to the king what his wife, suspected of infidelity, had confided in him. Therefore, King Wenceslas had him tortured and then thrown into the water from Prague's Charles Bridge.
