Right by the intersection of Old Salem Road and the Fernwood Lake Trail is a small plaque on a granite boulder marking where the Hermit of Gloucester's cabin once stood. Also known as, Mason A. Walton, the hermit lived in these woods for 33 years in a cabin he built himself.
