The Humboldt Castle was built in 1518 on the site of a previous building. In 1713, the estate came into the possession of the wealthy barons of Dacheröden. Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767-1835) married Caroline von Dacheröden in 1791 and lived with him until March 1793, completely withdrawn in the manor house. Today, the castle houses a local history museum and a Heimatstube with permanent exhibition. The »Humboldt Room« commemorates the time of the great German scholar and is also a popular place for readings and symposia. The Schlosskeller can be rented for celebrations and events.
