Apple Tree Park is the first recreation area you reach on the Springbrook Plateau, and is a quiet spot with a car park, picnic tables, shelters, barbecues, and a recently updated amenities building. It's a good introduction to the World Heritage-listed Springbrook National Park, with kookaburras often spotted resting in the trees and a short 20-minute walking track through some of the last remaining wet sclerophyll forest left in South East Queensland. The park also marks the starting point for the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk, a fantastic 54-kilometre trek through the Springbrook rainforest.
