Near Bad Schandau, the Kirnitzsch River flows into the Elbe, flowing from the Lusatian Mountains and through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
Bad Schandau lies on the right bank of the Elbe, directly adjacent to the Saxon Switzerland National Park in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The Elbe Cycle Path runs along both banks of the Elbe River.
