** Florent Mathieu was a cyclist from Quaregnon. As a water carrier for Briek Schotte, Raymond Impanis and Stan Ockers, among others, he took part in the Tour de France in 1947, 1948 and 1949. He proved that he could go far when he was allowed to drive for his own chance, with a third place in Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 1947.
