Today's "Green Belt" was the inner-German border until 1989. Today, the area along this route is a nature reserve and offers ideal hiking trails in the midst of diverse nature.
From the former GDR border tower in Bartolfelde, you can also hike a section of the "Green Belt" and be impressed by nature.

It's much better to drive along the country road than the highway. Otherwise, you don't see such things at all 😉
