    Jude Thaddeus the Apostle (Judah from Hebrew יהודה, jehudah "glory of Yahweh"; Thaddeus from Aram. tadda - breast; worthy of honor, courageous), also called Juda(sh), brother of James or Thaddeus (Lebaeus), sometimes called Jude of James (died ca. 80) - one of the twelve apostles, according to tradition the brother of James, the brother of the Lord and the author of the Epistle of Jude (cf. Jude 1:1). Counted among the group of martyrs, a saint of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
