Kloetinge is a church ring village, founded on a mound followed by a rectangular square (Marktveld) with barrel.
A vate that is clearly visible here on this market field is a public well. The vate was used as a drinking well for cattle and as a burning pit. A vate usually has a wide, gentle slope on one side that is paved (paved). A barrel is still present in some old Zeeland residential areas, such as here in Kloetinge. Enjoy the playful ducks on this water feature.
