The Four Orphans above the gate of the reformed orphanage of the same name from 1765 on Torenstraat in Medemblik.

In the shadow of the centuries-old Boniface Church in Medemblik, another monument attracts attention: the gatehouse of the adjacent former Reformed Orphanage. The building at Torenstraat 13 dates from 1785 and is particularly notable for its facade, with the city coat of arms in sandstone and a representation of four life-size orphans. Two of them come from the city of Medemblik, given the gold stripes on their clothing that refer to the city coat of arms, the other two orphans are from outside the city.
