The aim of the foundation is to preserve the windmill of the former Sluispolder under Hauwert. The mill is a so-called American windmill, also called a wind engine. This windmill was supplied by the First Dutch Wind Motor Factory in Groningen and installed in 1938 by Th. About in Hauwert. The mill is the last historical remnant of the many Hauwerter polder drainage that stood along the Gouw. In 1976 all of these became redundant during the land consolidation and were demolished. The mill of the Sluispolder was then also decommissioned, but was left standing. The mill is a provincial monument and is being restored by the foundation. The mill is expected to be placed on the modified foundation again in the summer of 2012. In collaboration with the municipality of Medemblik, a circular milling circuit has been constructed so that the mill's grinding function can be demonstrated.
