In 1749, a chapel dedicated to Saint Muno was built in Goffontaine. For a long time, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Cornesse also served as a parish church for the residents of Goffontaine. However, the residents of Goffontaine did not want their chapel to be closed. In 1876 it was elevated to a parish church.
A new church in neo-Romanesque style was built from 1889-1891.

The chapel was sold and served as a café, then as a grocery store and finally as a home (at Goffontaine 17).
