In 1749, a chapel dedicated to Saint Muno was built in Goffontaine. For a long time, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Cornesse also served as a parish church for the residents of Goffontaine. However, the residents of Goffontaine did not want their chapel to be closed. In 1876 it was elevated to a parish church.
