The Schinderhannes oak was over 300 years old when it overturned on April 13, 1975 due to old age. It was initially called Börner-Eiche because it was on the way to Born (Schloßborn). It was only after 1800 that it was given the name Schinderhannes-Eiche, because under its mighty crown the Schinderhannes wrote the extortion letter to the Fuchsmüller in 1801.(Source: heftrich-online.de/gebaeude-und-plaetze/schinderhannes-eiche/)

Remains of the Schinderhannes oak. A bench next to it invites you to look at the Heftricher Moor.
