The Kaller iron ore was transported to the nearby ironworks, the Reitwerke (from the Middle High German verb: reiten = to prepare), which were located in the Urft valley or the Schleiden valley. Here it was processed into malleable iron in the blast furnaces and refining furnaces by the art of the Reidtmeisters. Source: Pingenwanderweg, information board 18
