The city's theater with its 13 openings that refer to the 13 arches of the former bridge!"Opening onto the Place de la Guierle, a walking and exhibition area reclaimed from the marshes, this long building combines the architecture of a garden pavilion with the sculptural decor of a theater.
The architect Louis Bonnay built a first ground floor crossed at the front and back by thirteen arched bays, accessible by a wide staircase and a terrace. The building's vocation is clear on the facade: to offer a refined decor to the beautiful society who come here to see and be seen. In 1912, the architect François Macary added a floor and expanded the entertainment rooms to include games rooms. The same white limestone has been preserved and lends itself to the sculptural decoration of laurel branches, the crowns of poets.
The central pavilion receives a mansard roof, while the two side wings unfold to form a terrace roof. However, its original purpose as a theater, well engraved at the top of the central arch like the names of great authors between the bays, was abandoned in the 1930s with its transformation into a municipal cinema.
In 2006, the theater was completely rebuilt and modernized while retaining the facade pavilion. In 2018, the municipal theater of Treize Arches and the theater of Sept Collines de Tulle merged to form a national stage under the name of Empreinte.
