Great, even climb (tar below, gravel above) from Enzklösterle up to the Enz / Murgtal saddle

The Rohnbachtal is a side valley of the upper Enz near Enzklösterle. In the lower part the stream is called Rohnbach and is from Württemberg, in the upper part it is from Baden and is called Rombach. The border between Baden and Württemberg runs right through this valley.

Not far from the outskirts of Rohnbach, the valley widens and makes room for a flat, species-rich floodplain. At the entrance to this part of the valley, a small ensemble of buildings and exhibits has been designed, which offers an insight into the trades of previous centuries. It is modeled on a typical woodcutters and raftsmen's settlement.

The valley becomes narrower again and we reach the Rombachhof - the scene of a terrible crime on the night of April 25th to 26th, 1945. At that time, ten people were killed here, a forester's family and a domestic worker. Only one child survived the crime because he hid. The crime has not yet been solved to this day.

The Rombachhof was an old woodcutters and raftsmen's settlement. Today only the state forest administration buildings used for forestry purposes still exist. This is also noticeable on the wide forest road that leads from here to Kaltenbronn and opens up the mountain ridge between Murg and Enz. An old path must have led up here in the past; We see structures made of red sandstone blocks in several places along the stream. The French troops and their tanks came into the Rombachtal via this route in April 1945.
