At the top of the Gaisberg, a two-storied artillery fortification with handling and loopholes was erected in the 15th century. The Gaisberg has always been one of the strategic checkpoints along the traffic route between Vienna and Brno, and together with other facilities, it provided security for the city. The tower is open to the public and offers great views of Mikulov and its surroundings.
