Prussendorf was mentioned for the first time in 1209. The manor, which held the upper and lower courts, was first mentioned in the 16th century. It was a manor until 1945, then a teaching and experimental property. In 1969 it was divided between fruit growing (Uni Halle), field farming (LPG) and the stud farm. The Saxony-Anhalt State Stud was established on January 1, 1993 in what was then the Radegast Main Stud. In 1997 the headquarters of the state stud were moved to the Prussendorf part of the business. The aim at that time was to maintain the traditional Radegast Stud as a state stud farm and to give Saxony-Anhalt horse breeding its own state stud farm. The state riding and driving school of Saxony-Anhalt is affiliated with the state stud. They have also had the status of a technical school since 1997.

Also connected to the state stud is an agricultural business with around 850 hectares of agricultural land, which, on the one hand, produces the fodder for the horse population and, on the other hand, helps the state stud to largely cover its costs. The business is run as a cash crop business. The main crops are winter wheat, winter barley, sugar beets and winter rapeseed.
