Bernkastel-Kues, located on the Middle Moselle in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district of Rhineland-Palatinate, is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Germany and famous for its vineyards. Kues is the largest of the five districts of Bernkastel-Kues. High above the picturesque town of Bernkastel, at approximately 235 m above sea level, stands the landmark—the ruins of Landshut Castle—on a rocky outcrop approximately 60 m in diameter.
