Legend tells of a clan (possibly the McKinleys, who were related to the MacDonalds of Keppoch) who were forced to move to Glenfingas after they angered a spirit who dried up the well in their homeland.
One day, they were travelling in a funeral procession (traditionally performed on foot) from Glenfingas to the churchyard of St Bride, during a winter storm. They took a shortcut across the frozen Loch, and one deeper part hadn't frozen (or an evil creature appeared) and they all (200 souls) died on one go. Since then, the Loch has been called the Lochan nan Corp - 'the little loch of the dead'.
If you're up there in the mist, and you see a funeral party, get out of the way, otherwise you'll be under a spell to follow them forever!
Actually, it's quite small and quite shallow (waist height, tops) - and it's so called as the trail is an old coffin road called the pass of the dead (Bealach nan Corp). But that's not quite as much fun!
