The Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (HSD) is a modern educational institution in the middle of the lively state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The HSD offers its students innovative study programs at bachelor's and master's level, teaching and research oriented towards professional practice with close contacts to business and industry, modern equipment and a friendly and intercultural learning environment.

The Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences was founded on August 1, 1971 under the name Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. Against the background of the educational reforms of the 1960s and 1970s, it emerged from the merger of several previously independent, renowned predecessor institutions - including the State Engineering School, the Peter Behrens Werkkunstschule, the Higher Technical School for Social Work and the Düsseldorf branch of the Mönchengladbach Higher Business School. With more than 11,000 students, around 185 professors and around 275 academic employees, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences is now one of the largest universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia.
