The train station was built in 1906.The train station was built in 1906. History: When the railway line from Oldenburg to Leer was built in 1869, the route was laid out so that it did not go through Westerstede, but through Ocholt. From there, a narrow-gauge railway was later laid to Westerstede in order to have a rail connection. The train station was in front of the Hotel “zur Linde”. In 1906, the narrow-gauge railway was bought by the Grand Ducal Oldenburg Railway, converted to standard gauge and a new train station was built. The building impresses with its beautiful architecture with turrets, designed by the architect Klingenberg. The Grand Ducal Oldenburg coat of arms can be seen above the entrance portal, which is decorated with sandstone. In 1985 the station was bought by an investor, renovated and transferred to the station association for use. There is now a restaurant there.
