A very nice explanation of how humans had to find their way in the landscape.

"Rie maer op de towers" (translation: Drive on the towers) is a frequently heard saying to find your way in South Beveland.

The church towers have traditionally been important landmarks in the Zak van Zuid-Beveland.

Explanation about the artwork:

Education, church, sports and club life ensure a constant movement of young and old past this location. Funeral processions make their silent way to the cemetery at Eindwege. At this intersection of roads you can go in any direction.

The pillars and arches are based on the plan and shape of the tower and the disappeared north and south choir of the Petruskerk in 's-Heer Arendskerke. The pillars are constructed from hand-formed brick, made from clay from the region. The corner profiles of the pillars and arches are made of stainless steel.
