The materials house is the oldest house in Dithmarschen and is located in Wöhrden on Hafenstrasse.

It was built in 1519 as a windowless warehouse made of oak framework with a thatched roof and was mainly used to store grain, especially seeds. In addition, farm goods, such as clothes, linen, flax, hops, honey, etc., were stored there.

The materials house (it most recently served as a fire department equipment shed) was restored in 1928 to become the “Waterbörs”. Only the gable including the supporting wooden beam is from 1519 and is characterized by Taustab shaped bricks. It can give an idea of the appearance and scale of a more elaborate residential building from before the Conquest in 1559. Today it is used as a private residence.
