The Evangelical Church "Georgskapelle" was built as a chapel of St. George in 1340 and belongs to the St. Castor-Stift. In 1805 she became a horse stable by the French administration.
In 1856 it was rebuilt as ev. Church, consecrated in 1857 and completely restored in 1908/09. Since 1968, it has again been known as the "Georgskapelle", building on the old tradition.

Funny little anecdote that made me smile when researching:

"The teacher and local researcher Oswald Hennes reports in his Karden story of a long-lasting dispute after 1863 about whether there was a civil bell in Karden or whether the bell of the Catholic collegiate church of St. Castor could ring for the funeral of a Protestant. To end the discussion, which dragged on for 25 years, the evangelical community purchased its own bell on November 4, 1888 "

I'll think about it on my next hike;)
