The locality of Putna is located in Bukovina in the Moldovan part of the far north of Romania. The village is famous above all for housing a huge monastery built between 1466 and 1469 by Stephen the Great, then king of Moldavia. The town is a few kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The village is accessible by train (small station) using the line which goes from Suceava to Putna.
