This Orthodox monastery, whose construction was completed in 1469, has a rich historical past.
Its religious and artistic importance is fundamental in the history of Romania.
The famous Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu called it “The Jerusalem of the Romanian people”. This shows its importance.
The monastery has only retained the imposing treasure tower from the 15th century. An important cultural activity takes place every year here.

Putna Monastery is the most remote of the Vltava monasteries. It is not declared as World Heritage. After the destruction, the reconstruction took place without frescoes.
