Located on the mountain of Vilamajor, at the foot of the path of Sant Elies. It is located on the edge of the forest track, at the crossroads where the Camí del Cortès meets the Camí de Sant Elies.
The Borrell spring was a small tiled spring, known only to some mountaineers and residents of the neighborhood of Muntanya de Vilamajor. When the route of the Camí de Sant Elies was modified and it began to pass near the source, in 1968, the source was fixed, building a decanter, which distributes the water between Can Sorell and Can Plain, and a trough for the animals, which is filled with the overflow. From then on, this place began to be well known by hikers and devotees of the gathering, becoming a regular stop for breakfast on the way to the hermitage.
In 2013, the fountain was rehabilitated and acquired its current appearance, while respecting the trough to be able to water cattle and wild animals, despite the fact that the water from the fountain is no longer suitable for human consumption.
In dry areas with a warmer Mediterranean climate, natural water sources, such as the Borrell spring, are vital for flora and fauna, as they create a wet spot that acts as a small oasis of vital importance for small amphibians (newts, salamanders...), in addition to serving as a watering place for wild boars, flocks of sheep, small mammals (wood mice, squirrels, rabbits...), insects, reptiles and birds.
