This very serene village on the south side of the Minto Hills was originally designed by William Playfair as a village built for the 2nd Earl of Minto in early 19th century (to be precise, the village was entirely moved so that the Earl would not see it from his mansion!).

No shops in the village, but there is the Minto Church, where you will find a bench to rest on if this is what your weary feet desire.
