Parish Church of St. Martin, Hundersingen
The parish church of St. Martin is 594 meters above sea level, almost 40 meters above the Danube. The red brick building can be seen from afar on its hilltop and is a real eye-catcher. But the view of the Danube valley from the courtyard of the church is also impressive. The first mention of a church on this site was in 1265 - even then in honor of Saint Martin. Today's St. Martin's Church in Hundersingen is not particularly old, it was built between 1905 and 1906. But it is one of the few surviving churches designed by the architect Joseph Cades, who was born in Altheim near Schemmerhofen. He planned almost 40 churches in the area, of which only the churches in Mochenwangen and Hundersingen still exist in their original form with their original furnishings. The style of the church is the neo-romanesque style, which is part of the so-called historicism. The most well-known representative of this style is Neuschwanstein Castle.
