Leave your bike at the steps and take a short detour to explore Knockdrum. The Irish Name for the stone fort is Cnoc Droma and is one of the largest in Ireland. The view over the bay from across the 2m high walls is outstanding.

The Stone Fort is located near Castletownshend.
There is exactly one parking space at the sign, then you have to walk a grass path to the fort and up some stairs. From the fort you have a fantastic view of the Atlantic coast. In the morning fog the whole thing is very mystical.
