Between the two buildings of the town hall there is a charming fountain statue of a young woman who tirelessly pours water from her jug into the fountain. She is "The Young Woman with the Jug", or as the locals call her, Zsuzsi.

The statue is the work of sculptor Lenke R. Kiss. The artist created what would become an iconic sculpture at the beginning of her career, in 1961. It was initially placed in front of the town hall and only later found its final location a few meters further, at the foot of the stairs.

For a long time it was unclear who exactly had christened the young woman with the jug Zsuzsi, but a newspaper article from the time finally solved the mystery, even if the exact identity of the person who gave her the name is also unknown.

An anonymous person suggested in the local newspaper that the pretty statue should be personalized and called Zsuzsi. The idea quickly spread among the public and the young woman with the jug has been called Zsuzsi ever since.

A description from that time states: "This little girl with her ponytail is modern and beautiful. Her legs are muscular, but not as misshapen and column-like as today's realistic sculptors like. Our little girl is modern, but cute..."

There used to be a small park with flowers around the fountain statue, which was guarded by a park guard because tourists liked to take cuddle photos with Zsuzsi from Veszprém. Zsuzsi is not alone, by the way, because there is another young woman with a jug in our city, the work of master sculptor Sándor Mikus.
