When you come to this place, you may be surprised that you don't find any old stone walls or ruins of a castle in the general sense. Rather, the Slavic castles consisted of mighty ramparts and steep banks. They were probably built by settlers in the 8th century. To protect them, they were built at high altitudes, here around 20 to 30 meters above the Warnow, and used as living space until the 12th century.
