Originally there was a Romanesque church and a castle here.
The church and castle were probably destroyed in 1465. Afterwards a new church was built.
The tower was probably raised in 1565.
A new church was built on this site, probably in 1717, while retaining the choir of the previous church. This choir was then converted into a parsonage.
The current nave and choir were built in 1829, which is indicated by a chronogram above the portal.
The church building consists of a square west tower, a portal against the south side of the tower, a three-aisled nave with five bays and a three-sided closed choir with five bays. Behind this is the old choir. The tower has two sections and is constructed in quartzite in a fairly regular pattern with limestone plinth, water moldings and corner stones. The upper part is of marlstone with a brick facade and limestone chimneys and corner stones. The tower also has several narrow viewing holes and a bell-shaped spire covered with slates. The nave and choir are made of brick, with the corner bands, plinth and round-arched windows being made of limestone. The church building is covered by a barrel vault supported by Doric columns with a cover and a base.
The church is a protected monument and is dedicated to Saint Martin.
