The 6 meter path is a reason for the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Curonian Spit. The spit was replanted via this path on the dune crest for almost 100 years. For this purpose, mother earth was shipped across the lagoon and transported to the dunes in carts. Swiss mountain pines from Denmark were then painstakingly planted to stop the sand drifts. Almost all residents of the spit took part. It was the only alternative to complete evacuation. As you can see today, this unique community campaign was successful!
