Today we had the rare fortune of meeting Joseph himself on site. He was watering the flowers surrounding his artwork. This requires about 400 liters of water per day in the summer.
He also offered a brief introduction to the origins of this art project:
When the bridge directly in front of it had to be rebuilt after a flood, a large pile of earth remained on the slope next to it. There, he lovingly placed a small house for resting. As a nativity scene builder, it was only natural that he would soon add a few small churches, houses, and other homemade art objects to the site, to delight passersby, but above all, himself. All of the lovingly designed buildings and sculptures are his handiwork. The beautiful floral display that adorns the entire area in the summer comes from the community but is tended daily by Joseph himself. His whole heart is in this project, and it shows!
