🌬On the night of January 19, 2007, Hurricane Kyrill destroyed the eastern beacon, which for centuries had been Neuwerk's second most important landmark after the lighthouse.

Today, the beacon is part of the Neuwerk skyline for island vacationers. Amber hunters and mudflat hikers valued it as a landmark.

The residents of Neuwerk Island and many Neuwerk friends joined forces and collected donations for the approximately €150,000 reconstruction.
