Durrës is a port city on the Adriatic Sea in western Albania, west of the capital Tirana. One of the city's landmarks is the huge Roman amphitheater. Nearby is a 9th-century church with mosaic-decorated walls. The Archaeological Museum displays finds from Greek, Hellenic and Roman times. Durrës' wide beach has shallow waters and is not far from King Zogu's former 20th-century summer villa.
