The entire monastery complex is owned by the Armenian Apostolic Church. Immediately to the west of the cathedral, surrounded by a small park, is the Trdat III Gate, renovated in 1964, which leads to the Patriarch's Palace and administrative buildings, surrounded by a rampart. The pontifical residence was built between 1910 and 1915 and subsequently replaced the old one, built between 1738 and 1741. It contains the offices of the Catholicos, residence rooms and a treasure museum. After World War I, the residence was used by the Soviets as a military headquarters until 1956, when it was returned to the Church thanks to the efforts of Catholicos Vazken I.

To the northeast, with buildings both inside and outside the complex, is the Theological Seminary, built by Catholicos George IV in 1874 and named after him. The administration is located in the north-east of these buildings. Also on the site are a baptistery completed in 2008, a chancellery, a Catholicos Museum in the old pontifical residence, a treasury designed by the well-known Armenian architect Baghdasar Arsoumanian in 1982, monastic cells from the 19th and 21st centuries, the refectory with small monastery garden, the deanery building, a three-storey guest house, a clock tower and a printing works. In addition, in 1965 a Khachkar was erected to commemorate the Armenian genocide. Next to the east-facing main entrance to the site, built in 2001, is an open-air altar in a modern design that was built in the same year.
