St. Nikolai Church Uelvesbüll is one of the 18 historic churches on Eiderstedt.
The classicistic-neo-Gothic church of St. Nikolai contains valuable treasures from past centuries. The baptism (around 1400) comes from Namur and is considered the most important Gothic stone carving by Eiderstedt. The pulpit was built in 1672, the figures of the crucifixion altar around 1520.

Around 1300, the people of Uelvesbüll built their first church and dedicated it to the patron saint of seafarers, St. Nicholas. Again and again, however, the church building had to give way to the tides of the North Sea. The current St. Nikolai Church dates from 1854. It was built in the style of a classicist-neo-Gothic brick building. At that time, the Danish King Friedrich VII granted a subsidy for the construction of the church. That is why the church was called Friedrichkirche from 1854 to 1964.
