In 1886, Victor Auguste BLAVETTE, architect, and Émile PEYNOT, sculptor, were chosen by the City of Lyon to erect a monument to celebrate the centenary of the Republic.
The building was built in 1894 in the center of Place Carnot, in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon.
