Located on the outskirts of Santarém, on the banks of the Tagus River, the village of Caneiras is currently the largest agglomeration and the most populous poultry town. Even so, there are practically two streets parallel to the river. One of them, Rua dos Avieiros, ends at a small pier, also used by pole-fishing fishermen.
